Hey friends!
If you haven’t listened to last week’s podcast interview with Don Watenpaugh about sleep, you absolutely should! It was such a fun conversation to have, and I learned so much.
I just want to share a few of the great tips he offered in our discussion regarding getting to sleep.
If you have trouble getting to sleep because:
- You’re anxious about needing to be asleep:
- Tell yourself, ‘Relax! It’s just sleep’ (haha – so much easier said than done, but if we’re stressing out about how we need to be asleep, then we need to decrease that stress so we actually can fall asleep)
- Your mind is spinning out on a non-sleep topic you’re stressed about:
- Get out of bed, get out a notebook or piece of paper and a pen, and journal about what it is you’re worried about. Get it all out on the paper (and yes, ideally, you’ll want to be handwriting, not typing), and then get back in bed to sleep.
- Your mind is racing down a million different paths:
- Let your mind go down the paths – don’t fight it! You’ll essentially ‘dream yourself to sleep’
So great, right?? Try these out and let me know what you think 🙂 And if you have other tips that you’ve found to be particularly helpful in getting to sleep, pass them over!
Thanks, friends! Have a great sleep tonight 😉
Yours,
