The Predictive Brain

  • by

Hi friends!

I was so excited to share this podcast with the world a couple of weeks ago that on social media when I was announcing that it had dropped, I told people that it didn’t matter if they’d had a concussion or not – if they were human, they needed to listen to this podcast

My guest, Rick Griffin, is a great teacher, and he shared beautifully about how our brains are predicting machines – they base their perception of reality on the sensory input they receive and past experience.

This is why two people can be a part of the same interaction and walk away with completely different experiences of it – their brains are interpreting things based on their own sensory input and their own past experience.

If we can understand how our brain is predicting things, we can intentionally help it predict safety rather than danger or threat (when appropriate – if you’re actually in danger, it’s a good thing your brain is doing its job).

Please go and listen to this one – it gives so much insight into why we respond the way we do to situations in our lives, and provides tips and ideas to help us be more intentional instead of reactive.

Enjoy! And please reach out if you have any questions or want to share any insights you have on this topic – I’d love to hear them!

Cheers!
